Give your camera 4K streaming and enhanced monitoring with Accsoon SeeMo 4K for iPhone and iPad

Today Accsoon revolutionises on-camera monitoring once again with the introduction of the SeeMo 4K HDMI adapter for iOS. Building on the success of the original HD SeeMo, the new model offers a new UHD 4K HDMI input that turns all recent iPhones and iPads into advanced professional on-camera monitors with 4K streaming.  Simply cable the SeeMo 4K to your camera via HDMI, connect your iOS device via the included Lightning or USB-C cable, and load the Accsoon SEE app.

Stream 4K on-the-go

Now, using just a 4K camera, a SeeMo 4K and an iPhone, users can stream stunning 4K video direct to YouTube and other popular streaming platforms. The setup is simple and lightweight, opening exciting new creative possibilities for creators everywhere. The SeeMo 4K is equally at home in the studio, or on-the-move streams out and about. It is so small and light it takes no effort to throw one in your pocket and have it available at all times.

Because the SeeMo and iOS device are fully cabled it leaves both the Wi-fi and data connections of the iPhone or iPad free for connection to the internet for streaming or uploading.

Simplify your live stream with SeeMo 4K-new

How it works

The SeeMo 4K takes the HDMI output from the camera and encodes it into a format that an iOS device running the free Accsoon SEE app can display, record and stream. The SeeMo 4K can accept 2160p at 23.98/24/25/29.97/30fps, 1080p up to 60fps, and 720p up to 60fps for maximum versatility. The app displays the image with low latency which rivals some traditional monitors.

Recording of 4K video is in H.264 format at up to 20 Mbps directly to the device camera roll. Once a video in is the camera roll it can be shared just like any other iPhone video via iMessage, Airdrop WhatsApp, Messenger or email. You can also use these as a backup to your main footage on your camera, or even use them to edit videos when time is of the essence.

Updated SEE app

The latest version of the free SEE app brings several new important features to the SeeMo line. These are:

90-degree, 180-degree or 270-degree rotation of video for recording and streaming. Ideal for social media users who need vertical video options, especially when combined with the existing ability to flip the on-screen image around while vlogging.

The ability to ‘burn’ a custom LUT into Log encoded footage, which can then be recorded to, or streamed from the iOS device. This expands creative possibilities for fast turnaround work where users want to easily add a creative look.

An option to add a secondary calibration LUT for viewing that can be used independently of any creative LUT. This allows users who have access to high-end calibration devices to achieve the highest possible level of screen accuracy with their iOS devices.

Addition of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) protocol for advanced users looking to achieve higher quality, low-latency video streams.

The Accsoon SEE app has evolved into one of the most powerful monitoring solutions available today. It makes full use of the amazing touch interface of iOS devices to give rapid access to a wide range of tools. Simply tap on-screen to check focus, view LUTS, bring up waveforms or zebras, de-squeeze anamorphic video, bring up grids and check audio levels.

4K for better focus check

Because a 4K signal is being fed into the iOS device it also brings a new higher resolution when using the magnify function. This is extremely useful when accurate focus is required, especially when using fast lenses and full-frame cameras. The latest iPhones and iPads use some of the best screens in the business, with high color accuracy and resolution, outperforming all but the most expensive cinema-grade production monitors. Images are crisper and cleaner, with super high pixel density where the eye can no longer detect individual pixels. Unlike regular monitors iPhones and iPads benefit from the very latest screen technology and improve yearly. SeeMo 4K makes full use of these screens while remaining lightweight and portable.

Charge your iOS device

The SeeMo 4K can run for hours on a Sony NP-F type battery. Usefully, it can also charge your iPhone or iPad at the same time over Lightning or USB-C. There is also a useful additional USB-C output to charge other low power USB devices like microphones and small on-camera lights as needed.

Integrated SD card reader

The SeeMo 4K also has an integrated SD card reader that can be used to transfer photos, videos and other files to and from an iOS device. This can be useful as it is often quicker and less troublesome than transferring images off a camera using Wi-fi or Bluetooth. Note that videos cannot be recorded directly to the SD card from the SeeMo 4K.

Size and weight

The SeeMo 4K only weighs 115.7g (without battery, mount and cable) and measures 92mm×54mm×46.3mm. It comes with a dedicated clamp for iPhones and an Accsoon cold shoe mount included. Alternatively, it can mount to most iPads using one of Accsoon’s PowerCages for iPad or be mounted via 1/4 20 screw socket.

Price and availability

The SeeMo 4K costs $179 and will be available to buy from authorized Accsoon dealers.
